A Blue Jay encounter at Stanford Arizona Cactus Garden 11/22/20

The Cactus Garden was crowded today with families taking their holiday card photos, and as such, the birds were not out much. A few ruby crowned woodpeckers, but they were out of range. However, walking back to my car, there were a pair of stellar blue jays- with their bright cerulean feathers standing out amongst the eucalyptus and live oak trees. These jays took an interest in me, perhaps thinking I had acorns for them. They came pretty close to me and would watch me from about ~6-10 feet away, and as I wandered around, they followed me. They seemed as interested in me as I did in trying to get the right photo of the light on their bright blue feathers. (Click to enlarge)
