Bird Watching Palo Alto Baylands 11/17/19

Got out around 8am on a Sunday to see if I could see any birds at the Palo Alto Baylands. Saw a sharp shinned hawk, some hummingbirds, a pair of grumpy looking turkey vultures that easily had 5 ft wing spans and let me walk right under them!

Fleet Week SF 2019

Great fun watching the F-35, one of the newest fighters in the USAF, the p-51 mustang, the United Boeing 777-300ER and of course, the Blue Angels fly over SF. I took all these photos with my Sony A7rii + Sony 100-400 FE4.5-5.6 GM OSS lens.

SF Botanical Garden June 2019

Even on a cold, foggy Summer morning in San Francisco, there was beauty at the SF Botanical Garden. Here are a few photos. Click the image to enlarge.

Had to kill some time while my dog Ewok was being groomed, so I went to Stanford Cactus Garden and took some photos of the hummingbirds.

SF Botanical Garden - Magnolia Season! Jan 12 2019

It’s been raining here in the SF Bay Area for the past week, and today would be the one day break before another week of rain. I took advantage of warm 60 degree weather and blue skies to head to the SF Botanical Garden to take some photos of one of my favorite places. I was rewarded with some great pink magnolias (magnolia campbelli), a few hummingbirds, etc.

Here are the hummingbirds- check out the second one- I was taking a photo of the flower, and it flew into the shot!

Here are the Magnolias!!!! Always a treat each year, and I try to take photos that show how the light plays with their blossoms- they sometimes look like vibrant pink lanterns against a blue sky, or lanterns against grayish backgrounds- really fascinating to me to observe- nature truly is amazing.

Some other birds were also around the park
